Functional Service Provision

From Codex of clinical research

Functional Service Provision (FSP) – is a business model where a contract research organization (CRO) offers specific functions or services to a sponsor rather than managing entire projects. Instead of outsourcing entire projects, the sponsor contracts the CRO to provide specific functions or services, such as:

  • data management
  • statistical analysis
  • clinical monitoring
  • pharmacovigilance, etc.

Functional Service Provision arrangements allow sponsors to access specialized expertise and resources without the need to manage multiple vendors or hire additional staff. It offers flexibility, scalability, and cost-effectiveness, as sponsors can adjust the scope of services based on their current needs.
